Stellar goes to the movies… Friday 8th August

We’re back with the next installment of Stellar goes to the movies. Each week we’ll give you a quick run down of what’s hitting the big screen across the UK, and recommend our pick of the week. Where possible we’ll also track down interviews and clips and the best of the critical debate on the film to help educate your cinema going. Enjoy!

PICK OF THE WEEK:

The Multiplex – Honestly? Go see Dark Knight, WALL-E, Mama Mia or Wanted. This week is slim pickings.

The Independent – A tough watch, Elite Squad, is the latest attempt to capture the violence of the Brazilian Favellas. José Padilha won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival this year. You can read about the trials of making the film in an article from The Telegraph.

Fox And The Child, The (U) Pathe London & Nationwide
Directed by Luke Jacquet. It has been described as both a nature doc and “fairy tale” look at the story of young girl and her friendship with a fox.

Make It Happen (PG) Optimum Releasing London & Nationwide
Directed by Darren Grant. Embarking on a journey to fulfill her dreams as a dancer, a young girl discovers a new style of dance that will prove to be the source of both conflict and self-discovery.
